They’re digging up the street again,

but it’s not the same this time;

a strange young man with wild eyes

and a very diff’rent line.


He tells me time is getting close,

we won’t have long to wait,

until his guv’nor starts to build

a heavenly...

The owner went out early,

to hire, at that stage,

the workforce that he needed

and agreed the daily wage.


At nine o’clock, in market place,

some idlers caught his sight

He sent them too to work his field

and pay them what was right.


He did the same...

Four-Nine-O, I should forgive

the one who sins against me!

Four-Nine-O, that I forgive,

whatever size complaints be?


Yet, how am I to keep account;

to know that darkest day;

to keep tabs on the reprobate

until he’s locked away?...

If someone you know has some cause to sin

let not your anger burn brightly within.

Take them aside, and tell of your pain;

seek not to chide and but to simply regain.

And if that same one refuses to hear,

bring others you both trust...
